t r u t h o u t - Ashcroft Seeking Control of Voting Rights

OK. Everyone and their unlce have been waiting for the historical 'October Surprise' which usually arrives in the month preceding an election. Well...i suppose the lack of a great big event or issue (SO FAR) would mean that, given the bush admin. recent hits, that they have to resort to other means, such as taking away ciizens rights to sue over voting issues. And who would be in charge of this? ASshcroft! HA! Goddess help us all!

frontline: rumsfeld's war | PBS

Wow. Another must in the greatness that is Frontline. Not only was this episode informative, but insightful to an exact degree. The linkages made between all of the Neo Cons, particulalry the Don, and how they have been involved in American power for decades. Together they have crafted not only a new and dangerous foreign policy (pre-emption shudder) but have put us back in nearly all areas of social policy and economic stability. The culmination of there plans: the war in iraq, has obviously not gone as smoothly as 'planned'. The division, bullying, and got it alone 'tude is enough to make you sick. Bureaucracy at its finest/worst. Deconstructing malignant regimes truly begins at home!

CNN.com - Florida fields widespread voter complaints - Oct 22, 2004

Before the 'here we go again' line, lets just say, for the record that things have actually changed very little over the last four years for voting. Yest there was the Commision on voting that I linked to earlier, but in actuality very little has aqctually changed - for voters and ballots. Now after the uproar in 2000, you would think that the American people would not want the LEASt democratic section of our govenrmnet, the Supreme Court, deciding our president, but in fact, ourse;ves deicidng. Yes I am for voting changes, and would want the 'one man/woman one vote' to actually matter. SO, I call on all states to allow for proportional representation by districts, aka, abolishing the OTHER undemocratic institution that screwed us, the electoral college. CHANGE IS COMING!

Washington Votes for War in Colombia

And quietly, as the people slept, those nocturns of suppression met under the apple tree in the back yard. At one time you could say that they conspired to achieve greatness, for king and country. They would'nt say that anymore. It is now for the dollar and god, but not your dollar or your god, but there's. So they abandoned the tree in the yard, and moved on to Wall Street, and Chevron; CBS and financial services. But they still meet. On the Links, the phone lines, the silent nods at parties, the handshakes, the donations. Nothing changes.

I remember a line from Fight Club..."we cook your meals, take away your trash, we protect you while you sleep...DO NOT FUCK WITH US!" Imagine what we ARE NOT HEARING about in the news and views, comments and shouting. Plan Columbia was a shady deal to help the nation end its inner conflicts, but has become a blank check defined by an even more amorphous entity - 'terrorism'. What I would call little 't' terrorism. Keeping that fear level up, getting our fix.

I want to define my version of the big 'T'. No not terrorism, but TROUBLE. Imagine the trouble we will be in when we find out the true ramifications of the last 4 years. Now imagine if we have to endure 4 more years of the same. Now concentrate REALLY hard and think down the line 6 or 8 years. IS the picture in your head a bright shiny utopia of light? I did'nt think so.

BBC NEWS | Magazine | 101 years in 101 words

I remember doing an english assignment sort of like this in High School. Of course, the words in that assignment were rather random vocab snippets to help us expand our language and usage. Yadda Yadda. This little assignment here at least throws some history and definition into the mix. Give it a Whirl!

This is Beacoup Important!
After the election debacle of 2000, the Senate created the U.S. Election Assistance Commission , whose purpose was to straighten out some of the, how shall I put it, bullshit that resulted in the Supreme Court (thee least democratic institution in our democracy) deciding, not you, not me. Anyway, this really is'nt going as smoothly as possible. In fact, it is a disaster, which = worse nightmare than before. But, they do have a reponse system for issues that may arise, I mean, WILL ARISE! So, here it is, and please forward to everyone you know:

The U. S. Elections Assistance Commission can be reached at 1-866-747-1471 or e-mailed at havainfo@eac.gov.

Sinclair to broadcast anti-Kerry documentary

Gimme an S, gimme and M, gimme and E, gimme and A, gimme an R! Whats that spell??? Everyone must pass this along, create some buzz, shut this stunt down. I think that I would use the 'equal time' statute, or maybe one of those pesky election rules about ads and or short films airing within a certain time of an election...i'll have to check that out.
